Florent Dubois defines himself as a fan. Ceramic fan. Fan drawing. Of chatter. Fan of mass produced imagery and knickknacks. Fan of Comté, Morbier, Toulouse sausages, gouda with truffles. Fan of high waisted jeans, weird vintage tracksuits. Glasgow fan. Fan of a whole bunch of artists, his former teachers, musicians, graphic designers, authors, curators, designers. Fan of regional folklore. Fan of exotic textile prints. Fan of carnival, fairs, grotesque, silks, pastoral, gallant and pagan festivals. Talking with him is accepting to find himself bombarded with flamboyant references that he whirls around at full speed in the flow of the conversation.
And it is necessary to understand all the seriousness of this posture: it is a question of knowing what he is the heir of, and of being in the vast chessboard of forms in order to be able to situate oneself in the world.

Florent Dubois draws - a lot - and he creates ceramic sculptures. His designs are frequently inspired by images of anthropomorphic objects found on Ebay, and his ceramics often have faces. By dint of hard work, he therefore formed small societies of drawn and sculpted characters.
He has an undeniable pleasure in producing, which is manifested in the attention he gives to textures, in the delicious powders of the backgrounds of his drawings, or in the brilliant and colorful enamels of his sculptures. In recent years, he has produced, again and again, testing new types of backgrounds, amazing combinations of collages and paintings, ceramics found and produced by him, experimenting with firing, enamels, pastel mixtures. and acrylic, the frames, in sum more and more refining its production processes. And he now finds himself in front of a mass of heavy and cumbersome drawings and sculptures. Hence this alternative: continue as if nothing had happened to produce parts, even if it means greedily covering the surface of the globe with its productions, or starting to imagine organizational principles. *

The exhibition Touchez ma bosse Monseigneur and it will bring you happiness ... is a first attempt to organize a corpus of sculptures and drawings through an installation. Transposing his practice of drawing and collage to the scale of the exhibition, Florent Dubois has created an immersive space where his iconographic references mingle with his plastic productions.
The exhibition also includes a collaboration with the artist duo Chloé Munich and Vincent Lalanne. Working from images of his works, the artist duo offers an animated version of some of his sculptures.

Bordeaux / Poitiers artistic exchange

In the contemporary art landscape in France, the high visibility, the necessity and the quality of the work of institutional places must not obscure the lasting precariousness of the scene of independent spaces, in particular those managed by artists, associative galleries, structures providing workshops and equipped production spaces.

Alternative places of experimentation and exhibition, they are sometimes real springboards, producing, disseminating, providing unfailing support to emerging but also confirmed artists, activating networking, facilitating the work of locating and irrigating institutional places. .

Zébra3 and Le Confort Moderne , two independent structures, actors of the regional artistic scene, are initiating an artistic exchange between Bordeaux and Poitiers, the objective of which is to make their territories and their backgrounds known and recognized, to reaffirm their commitment to art and to demonstrate the quality and ambition of their work.
